Pedestrian High Injury Corridors, San Francisco
This map just won a mention from the Atlantic as one of the best open data releases of 2012:
I created it using ArcGIS Online, which you can't afford I don't think unless you have some sort of big enterprise subscription like the City of San Francisco does. The analysis was actually more than a year old. A colleague at the San Francisco County Transportation Department requested corridor-level data across the city in order to evaluate applicants for the One Bay Area Grant, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to get my department hooked on online mapping. SF Streetsblog got hold of it, and the rest is history.
The data will be released on DataSF next Thursday. As three shapefiles.
Still not sure how I parlay all of this stuff I am doing into a promotion or some other sort of career advancement. Let me know if you have any tips.
